About Maintenance Specialist (Parks and Beaches)

Meet Mark Garlock, Parks, Pier & Beaches Supervisor, who tells us all about his role with the City of Oceanside Water Public Works Department. A Maintenance Specialist for Parks & Beachers performs minor repairs/improvements and maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of park grounds and facility structures. Mark also maintains and repairs erosion control, diversion, and drainage systems to protect park facilities. A Maintenance Specialist also performs duties such as operating and minor maintenance on trucks, tractors, mowers, or other light automotive mechanical equipment; assigns, trains, and reviews the work of public service workers performing park maintenance work; and assists high-level Parks staff in maintaining records and reports and monitoring contractor maintenance services.
